Historically Accurate Flight Models for all Sims

Welcome!

To the new AvHistory.org community.

Please be patient, we have a lot to learn with this powerful system

This site is a celebration of flying and it's history. By combining the latest releases of the current Flight Sims and the 1% technology, we can now experience the thrill of flying from home computer. We can practice touch and goes in the pattern flying a General Aviation aircraft to navigating a 4-engine airliner across the country. Or explore BFM issues of fighters from WW1 to WW2 and even the early Jets, Turboprops and Rocket Powered aircraft.

The flight sim community has created many wonderful visual models for just about any aircraft you can think of. Because of the hard work of the Aviation Enthusiasts at AvHistory.org, developers can now create flight models for the computer that can approach our goal of flying within 1% of the performance of their real world counterparts.

To achieve a fidelity that approaches +/-1%, we took a step back and approached the creation of MS flight models from a Historians point of view using Physics to generate the data for the flight model. The methodology we use is called the 1% Assembly Line Process.
The 1% process has given us a method to create very high fidelity MS flight models. We're now beginning the next evolution in flight models that model the quirks or personality of the aircraft. To help achieve this, advisor's like the Planes of Fame Museum, have provided assistance to AvHistory to allow us to more accurately model the aircraft.

Have fun exploring the site.

Any chance of getting one of these converted from CFS2 to CFS3? Ted was trying one when I last heard from Sim outhouse. IDK its status though.

  • Re: 1% fan new to site

Panic not, SOH is moving over to a new setup and some housekeeping needs to be done first. All the old familiar stuff will be back before you can say 'new server'.

Sorry to hear that. Did you install the weapons loadout of bombs to the weapons folder? The bombs are used for stability and allows the airplane to show up in the FS menu. Beau's site is down currently , but are you sure you went to the CFS3 freeware site section on his links page?

Sadly I'm not Vista savvy, but I might be able to offer some advice. I run Windows XP with an intel pentium processor that can handle Vista upgrades, but I heard some CFS3 incompatibility issues with Vista so I stuck with my XP version. When it comes to AVH planes, you have to start over with a new, unmodded CFS3, what some call here the Vanilla...
