    Historical thought 1.0

I personally first and foremost relish the "landmark" aircraft, those with one foot in the past and one foot in the future of aviation. German engineering rooted in the '30s but reaching far into the future on projects such as the Go-229 and the Me-262. Those ac were piloted and tested by pilots who fought in prop planes first and then moved to jet powered and heralded the new era of modern day technology. They were ahead of their time. Today's fighter ac have something lost or missing. Very little is left to pilot judgment  and instinct since computer systems are widely used to fly them. The 262 was as crucial to avhistory as the wright bro's first flight.

That's my thought of the day.

    Re: Historical thought 1.0

There was an old saying about the F-16 and it's computer FBW system that "it made a poor pilot good and made an ace good too". Initially pilots thought that since the computer would prevent the aircraft from exceeding certain limits an ace pilot wouldn't be able to fly at the ace level. Fortuntely the ace's like always still flew like aces.

We have a He162 in the queue which should prove interesting in a matchup to the mix. That will give us

    Me-262-1a
    Me-262-2a in process
    He-162D in process
Go229 waiting on changes to support flying wings

    YP-80A

Meteor Mk 3 short Nacel in QA
Meteor Mk 3 long Nacel in QA
    Vampire Mk 1 in QA

The down side is the FS flight equations have issues modeling the "machs" of these aircraft.

IIRC, the He-162 was the "Volksjaeger" with the engine on top of the fuselage? From what I remember of Winkle Brown's remarks it should make an 'interesting' flying experience. I hope someone builds an Arado 234 for you sometime!

A Me-163 would be cool, yet what about Fuel and landing?

    Re: Historical thought 1.0

Has anyone here ever heard of a Triebfluegel? It was a concept Focke-Wulf that was intended to damage allied bombers so 190's and 109's could shoot them down. It would attack head-on to avoid getting damaged itself. I will provide a photo:

Triebfluegel  As you can see it would have been a very imposing aircraft. I think we need a 1% version in CFS3, though I imagine its flight model would be incredibly difficult to replicate. I'm not even sure the game could support ram-jets. And (just as DaiZengar pointed out of the Me-163) what about landing? Could one replicate a vertical takeoff plane here?

    Any developer's thoughts?

Spitguy 22, there is a beta Triebflugel at Beaubrummies site in the links section. Its freeware so you dont have to wory about any issues. Just dont relaease its bombload or else you will lose control of the aircraft. Very fun to fly. A handful to land though...

It is very unfortunate, but the Triebflugel has failed to work on my system Super Angry!!!

Sorry to hear that. Did you install the weapons loadout of bombs to the weapons folder? The bombs are used for stability and allows the airplane to show up in the FS menu.

Beau's site is down currently , but are you sure you went to the CFS3 freeware site section on his links page?

its not that the plane crashes or has poor flying performance or that it wont load; its that when I click on it and hit fly it make cfs3 crash.
