    AV add on crashes

I am looking for some help here. I am unable to get the AV history planes I have added on to CFS3 to work with out crashing my game. I have loaded CFS3 on to my newer Vista operating system  purcahsed 1 1/2 years ago and updated CBS3 with ver. 3.1 &3.1a the game worked very well for over a year. I finally got around to loading some AV planes, Wepons pack 041708, Effects.XML 041708,FXtextures041708, and Full Preload. I loaded them up as per the site instrutions and then used the BDP Nuker but when I play the game shortly after it starts it crashes. This is strange because I loaded up Meditrerainian air war and it last year and it works flawlessly. I am not sure whether I am using the BDP Nuker program right or not. Any Ideas?

Sadly I'm not Vista savvy, but I might be able to offer some advice.

I run Windows XP with an intel pentium processor that can handle Vista upgrades, but I heard some CFS3 incompatibility issues with Vista so I stuck with my XP version. When it comes to AVH planes, you have to start over with a new, unmodded CFS3, what some call here the Vanilla installation, because of its purity. Then once CFS3 is installed, go to Microsofts' site and get the 3.0 patch installed first, then the 3.1a patch installed shortly after so that there are no compatibility issues with the sim and your hard drive. Then you can add on the Fxtextures, effects, pylons, weapons etc. and put them in their proper places. Please make sure when doing these particular installations, bear in mind that the zipp folders must be opened and the stock files have to be overriden.

For example: If i were to install the Wepak folder, download it to a temp folder on your desktop, then unzipp it from the temp folder, go to the top tab and click edit and select all (much easier instead of clicking one file at a time!) Then click copy then drag your mouse to the CFS3 weapons folder and right click paste, and yes if you are overriding any files. There are two files here at AVH called Preload and Effects. Place these two in your main CFS3 folder and override the two stock files. All of the 1% planes require pylons and weapons in order to fly or else the sim will crash on you. Make sure you dont rush to place all of the planes in all at once , take it step by step.

Afterward, the BDP nuker is used to delete all of the BDP files in the sim so that when you start over again the game with meticulously register all new addons and files so you can play and see all your new weapons and tanks.

Overall, it takes me 2-3 hours to get the sim just like I want it. That's why I stick with stock CFS3. ETO and PTO seem nice, but things happen in life and when your computer goes, it takes everything with it, so I stick with what I know.

Any questions don't hesitate to post in your thread.

    Re: AV add on crashes

Thanks Maxfighter for replying. I to had a Windows XP system and all my add on's worked. OFF, MAW all the AV planes and pylons and wepons pack. Life was good despite being shot down occasionallyBig Smile Now that I have Vista I have been able to use MAW and CFS3 with out problems. I have started from scratch four times and reloaded CFS3 3.1 and 3.1a so I am fairly certain that I have done that right. I followed the directions closely and put the files in each area they were supposed to go. I loaded one plane at a time but did not get to far before the system crashed again. I ran the system in administrator mode and this did not help. The only thing I have not tried is to set the compatability tab to XP service pack 2. I reciently down loaded ETO and this is runing very well with out the problems I encountered trying to load the AV files seperatly. I am happy with ETO and will probably just use it instead of experimenting with loading the AV files alone. Must be some thing I am doing wrong but I am blind to it for now any way.

No problem, We all learn to crawl before we walk. The sim is great when you get it working properly. Just takes time is all.
