    PBY- Catalina: Awesome Flying boat

    Hello all,

Thanks greatly to Hairyspin and Spitguy22 I downloaded the Pby Catalina from Beau's CFS3 site and I must say that it is a truly remarkable machine. Its 100 percent realistically accurate to its real life counterpart. This has got to be the most beautiful American Machine I've ever seen and flown. The range isn't lacking either and the ordnance is a little interesting for me at least because I never knew until yesterday that Catalina's could be equipped with bombs. Since Sim-outhouse is down for the moment, I would just like to greatly thank the following people:

Hairyspin, Spitguy22, Ted (Nactpiloten) Kaniuka, steve seybolt, and John (Bravo4). Thanks for the excellent aircraft and heads up.

    Hear! Hear!

    They really look fantastic.

Question: Is there a "Seaplane" airbase in CFS3 or ETO where you can moor that one Catalina w/o wheels?

    Thanks for the reply Galand!

I'm still really mapping out CFS3 myself by flying and learning how to navigate and whatnot, Haven't really seen any seaplane bases at 30,000 feet or at zero feet. Maybe ETO expansion has some. However, I'm still waiting for the Heinkel 177 coming out for the sim soon. I hope Sim Outhouse gets back on its feet so I can find out some more about it. The Catalina is awesome in all respects.

you know what's disappointing? the Catalina gunner mission in call of duty 5. Its terribly unrealistic!!! This one catalina is shown reeking havoc on a japanese convoy. If you want, see more and search youtube for "world at war black cats." I'm sure you'll see what I mean.

does anyone here know of a four engined PBY download (just read of them in a 1941 geo i had lying around no joke!)? Maybe it would carry more ordnance(?)

I'm really not sure I did a google image search and got no positive results. The geo didn't have a photo of one but mentioned one but instead had a photo of a normal PBY and the caption claimed there's a quad engine modle. This is the photo: http://www.barinka.us/images/guba1024x768.jpg but (it's not in shown in the geo this is another article but the same photot)  The exact words in the caption are; "The PBY-2 patrol bomber built by consolidated aircraft is the type used in large numbers by the US Navy. The latest model has four engines." Maybe they mean the PB2-y-2, I don't know but looking at them side by side they look like separate airplanes. This is really an interesting photo too.

    Spitguy22,

It would seem to me that they are referring to the Consolidated PB2Y Coronado, which was four-engined, designed by the same company as the PBY Catalina, which had two engines.

The two certainly do not look the same.

so contrary to what the geo said, it wasn't literally a four-engined PBY. ok I get it. I got to download me one of those!
